UV-Curable Peelable Blue Coatings

UV Peelable Blue Gel for Display Protection

M8350 is a single-component, high-viscosity UV-curable gel for removable protection and formed-in-place masking around displays and precision components. The resilient cured material combines high elongation with low adhesion for peeling and rework.

Surfaces & applications

Display-edge protection; electronics assembly; formed-in-place removable gaskets; precision components and rework

Dispensed protection around displays

The high-viscosity paste can be dispensed as a controlled bead around a display perimeter or localized protected area. It is suitable for automated dispensing and spray-dispensing processes that can handle this viscosity. Keep sensitive openings and electrical contacts clear unless the process specifically calls for masking them.

Resilient material for removal and rework

The cured gel has a reference Shore A hardness of 48 and 400% elongation at break. This combination supports flexibility during deformation and removal. The material is designed for low adhesion to many substrates after curing, allowing the temporary layer or formed gasket to be removed for rework.

Match curing depth to exposure

The technical table lists 0.5, 0.8 and 1.5 mm curing depths at 3, 6 and 9 seconds respectively under the stated UV conditions. Lamp spectrum, distance, intensity, exposure time and substrate light transmission affect the result. These entries are reference process measurements, not interchangeable settings for every lamp.

Electrical and moisture properties

Reference electrical properties include a dielectric constant of 3.5 at 1 MHz and dielectric strength of 17 kV/mm. The listed water absorption is 2.5% after 24 hours at 25°C. Select a process using the complete operating environment; these values alone do not establish an enclosure waterproof rating or device certification.

Clean handling and storage

Protect the uncured gel from sunlight and strong UV light. Clean oil, moisture and dust from the substrate before dispensing. Use UV shielding and appropriate eye protection at the curing station. Keep the dispenser capped when not in use and avoid returning dispensed material to the original container.

Application process

Protection through the complete cycle

  1. 01

    Prepare and clean

Clean and dry the bonding or masking surface without leaving cleaner residues.

  2. 02

    Dispense the bead

Apply an even bead or layer using the 50 ml dispenser or a compatible dispensing system. Control thickness to suit the intended cure depth.

  3. 03

    Expose to UV

Cure with equipment matched to the reference spectrum and energy. Check the complete film, particularly shadowed edges.

  4. 04

    Inspect and rework

Confirm tack-free curing and the required protection. When rework is needed, peel the cured material and inspect the exposed surface.

Practical answers

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from bulk UV blue coating?

M8350 is a high-viscosity gel supplied in a 50 ml dispensing tube, suited to controlled beads and display-edge work. The bulk coating is presented for broader selective masking.

Does it need a hardener?

It is a single-component UV-curable material; curing is triggered by suitable light exposure.

Can a thicker bead use the shortest cure cycle?

Not automatically. The reference table links depth to exposure, and actual curing must be verified with the selected lamp and part geometry.
