Surfaces and applications
PCB and PCBA assemblies, electronic components and selected precision parts requiring evaluation for moisture exposure.
Thin protection for PCBA and precision components
The coating is described for PCBAs, outdoor electronic equipment and precision components requiring moisture and environmental protection. It forms a thin layer without a baking step, making room-temperature processing possible. The listed film thickness is 1.0–3.0 μm, depending on the method, so the product is evaluated as a surface coating rather than as a thick encapsulant.
Surface and environmental properties
The stated water contact angle is at least 155°. The material description also gives a salt-spray resistance reference exceeding 96 hours, together with moisture, dust, condensation and chemical-environment protection. These describe coating properties under the relevant evaluation conditions. Electrical function, connector access and device-level protection are assessed on the actual assembly rather than inferred from a droplet image.
Spray or dip processing
Automatic spraying is the preferred production method in the application description because it supports controlled uniform coverage. Brushing and dipping are also listed. For dipping, use a compatible plastic or glass vessel, fill to cover the highest component by at least 5 mm, immerse for 3–5 seconds and withdraw evenly. Protect any area that must remain free of coating.
Fast drying with controlled handling
The general surface-dry reference is 2–5 minutes, with approximately 30 minutes to hard dry. The dip sequence describes 2–3 minutes to surface dry after withdrawal, within the general range. Keep the component in a clean environment during drying and verify function before further assembly or operation. No oven is required for the described room-temperature process.
Storage and open-container care
Reseal the container during pauses and immediately after dispensing to reduce solvent loss and moisture exposure. Store upright below 45°C in a cool, ventilated, dry location. Listed storage guidance limits stacking to eight cartons and keeps cartons at least 10 cm above the floor. Keep the material identified and within its three-year shelf life.

Prepare. Apply. Evaluate.
- 01
Clean and mask
Clean and dry the board; identify contacts, connectors and other areas that must remain uncoated.
- 02
Choose spray or dip
Apply a controlled spray layer, or prepare the dipping vessel at the specified depth.
- 03
Dip where appropriate
Immerse for 3–5 seconds and lift evenly, avoiding trapped pools.
- 04
Dry
Allow 2–5 minutes for surface drying and approximately 30 minutes for hard drying.
- 05
Inspect
Check coverage, component compatibility and the assembly's required electrical and environmental performance.
Clean and dry the assembly, identify areas that must remain uncoated and establish a controlled application process. Inspect coverage and verify assembly function after curing. Evaluate humidity, contamination and electrical performance under representative operating conditions.

Frequently asked questions
Does water beading establish an IP protection rating?
No. A water-repellent surface is one material property. Ingress protection is assessed for the complete device under the applicable test conditions.
What does an immersion demonstration show?
It shows the specific demonstration setup. Product selection still requires the relevant electrical, environmental and durability checks for your assembly.
Is baking required?
No. The described process cures at room temperature.
How thick is the coating?
The listed thickness range is 1.0–3.0 μm, depending on the application method.
Does a ≥155° contact angle establish an IP rating?
No. It describes surface wetting. Device ingress protection and electrical performance require the relevant assembly-level evaluation.
