Hydrophobic Nano Coating for Stone Surface Protection

A thin surface treatment for stone and decorative materials

XN-5579R forms a clear surface treatment intended to reduce wetting and make water marks, oil contamination and fingerprints easier to clean from compatible surfaces. Typical stone applications include marble, granite and engineered quartz, as well as suitable tile surfaces. It can also be assessed on selected glass, acrylic, metal, wood and cement-based materials. Each finish needs its own appearance and adhesion check, particularly polished, resin-treated or absorbent stone.

Choose a curing route the material can tolerate

Room-temperature processing allows 24 hours before packing. Where the substrate and all attached materials tolerate heat, the listed thermal route is 150°C for 30 minutes. Packing readiness and final performance assessment are separate stages: carry out performance testing at least five days after application. Include the full assembly in the heat review, such as adhesives, backing meshes, sealants and resin-filled areas.

Keep moisture out of the container

Reseal the container immediately after dispensing. Moisture contamination can cause crystallisation or particles and affect the applied finish. Use clean equipment, keep the stored product in an opaque, tightly closed container and protect it from light. Dispense the quantity needed for the work without returning contaminated material to the original pack. Store in a cool, dark place at room temperature.

Application consistency and cleaning

Clean and dry the substrate before coating. Spraying is preferred when an even, thin layer is required; dipping or wiping may suit particular shapes and production methods. Avoid runs and local accumulation. Clean the spray gun within 10–20 minutes using a compatible cleaning solvent or DMC. Inspect the cured sample for clarity, colour change and film uniformity, then assess the cleaning and wetting behaviour required for the application.

Use the treatment for the surface task

The treatment addresses the exposed surface. It does not replace repair of structural cracks, leaking joints or a failed waterproofing assembly. For stone floors, assess slip performance separately and include the actual cleaning routine. For exterior stone, include wetting, drying and contamination cycles in the sample programme before specifying a maintenance interval.
