Surfaces & applications

Finished furniture, appliance panels, glass, stainless steel and compatible coated components requiring temporary surface protection before delivery or installation.

A film for the shipping cycle

This water-based material is intended to form a non-tacky protective skin after drying. Its described uses include plastics, rubber, coatings, glass, ceramics, marble, stainless steel and alloys. For furniture and appliances, the purpose is to protect compatible finished surfaces through handling, storage and transport while retaining an agreed peel-off removal step.

Mechanical properties and removal

The listed initial tensile strength is at least 10 MPa and elongation at break at least 100%. These properties describe the protective film, not the structural performance of the packaged item. The listed adhesion is no more than 0.5 MPa, consistent with the need for controlled removal. Initial peel assessment is described on stainless steel, flat glass and ABS panels at 23°C; other finishes should be checked separately.

Weathering and process exposure

After 600 hours of artificial weathering, the listed tensile strength remains at least 10 MPa, elongation at least 50% and adhesion no more than 0.5 MPa. The product information also describes retained peelability after 24-hour water exposure and ten heat cycles. Those figures should be read with the actual exposure method; they do not specify every transport climate or unrestricted temperature duty.

Preparing the item for packing

Surface drying is listed at no more than two hours and through drying at no more than 24 hours under the relevant test conditions. Include the real time between coating and packing in the trial. Check whether the packing film, foam, carton or protective spacer contacts the coating, and evaluate the item again after the intended storage period. Use cushioning and corner protection for impact and compression.

Application process

Protection through the complete cycle

  1. 01

    Select a representative item

Use the actual material, finish and part geometry.

  2. 02

    Apply

Brush, spray or roll an even continuous layer on a clean, dry surface.

  3. 03

    Dry before packing

Use the listed drying references as a starting point and verify film condition on the item.

  4. 04

    Simulate storage and transport

Include packing contact, handling and the planned protection period.

  5. 05

    Remove and inspect

Peel after unpacking and examine the finish, edges and decorative surfaces.

Apply to a clean, dry surface after testing the original finish. Allow the film to dry before packing. Include the packing material, storage conditions and expected transport duration in the trial, then assess the surface again after peeling. Use suitable cushioning for impact and heavy abrasion.

Practical answers

Frequently asked questions

Does the coating replace all transport packaging?

It provides a surface protection layer. Corner guards, cushioning and structural packaging remain important where items face impact or compression.

How do I assess removal after transport?

Coat a representative component, expose it to the expected storage and packing conditions, then peel and inspect for residue, colour change and damage to the original finish.

What does the weathering figure describe?

It describes film-property values after a 600-hour artificial-weathering test: tensile strength ≥10 MPa, elongation ≥50% and adhesion ≤0.5 MPa.

Which surfaces were used for the stated initial peel assessment?

Stainless steel, flat glass and ABS panels at 23°C are listed. Furniture lacquers and other finishes require their own compatibility trial.

Does this replace cushioning?

No. The coating protects a surface. Packaging for impact, compression and corner damage is still selected around the item and transport conditions.
