Water-Based Peelable Latex Coatings

Water-Based Peelable Latex Coating

A water-based liquid coating that dries into a removable protective film. It covers compatible smooth surfaces and can follow shapes that are awkward to protect with pre-cut adhesive film. Coloured finishes also provide a visible indication of the protected area.

Product overview

Surfaces and applications

Temporary protection of metal, glass, tiles and compatible plastic surfaces; removable finishes on sealed decorative surfaces; protection during handling and light finishing work.

A continuous film for smooth and shaped surfaces

The liquid coating follows the accessible shape of the workpiece before drying into an elastic skin. It is suited to non-absorbent or low-absorption surfaces such as metal, compatible plastics, glass and tiles. Finished wood and acrylic surfaces can also be assessed where the original finish is sound. This makes it useful for surfaces where cutting and fitting a sheet film would leave numerous joints or awkward corners.

Colour, coverage and film continuity

White and black are available alongside decorative shades including ivory white, carnation, mist, bluish and several grey, green and pastel tones. Select the colour against the actual background and agree a sample for colour-sensitive work. The one-coat reference is 2–3 m² from 500 g or 4–6 m² from 1 kg. Extra coats, roughness, application losses and the film thickness needed for peeling increase consumption. Do not stretch the coverage estimate by leaving a discontinuous film.

Renewing a protective surface

After the protection period, start at an accessible edge and peel the film in a controlled direction. Inspect recesses and edges for fragments. A contaminated or worn layer can be removed and replaced after the substrate has been cleaned and checked. Evaluate removal on the original paint after the planned exposure period; an elastic film is not a substitute for checking the strength of a weak or poorly bonded underlying finish.

Application process

Prepare. Apply. Evaluate.

  1. 01

    Prepare

Remove dust, oil and loose material. The substrate must be dry and sound. Test a concealed area on painted, lacquered, plastic or porous surfaces.

  2. 02

    Mix and apply

Stir the ready-to-use material thoroughly. Apply evenly by brush, suitable spray equipment, dipping or screen coating. Maintain a continuous layer around edges and contours.

  3. 03

    Allow time between coats

The reference surface-dry time is 30 minutes. Allow approximately 2 hours before recoating and extend this interval in low temperature or high humidity.

  4. 04

    Dry before handling

Allow approximately 24 hours for through drying. Avoid rainy or persistently damp conditions and do not judge removal from a partially dried film.

Clean and dry the surface, then stir the coating thoroughly. Apply an even, continuous layer and allow it to dry before handling. Check adhesion and removal on a small area of the actual finish. Film thickness, drying conditions and the condition of the underlying paint all affect removal.

Practical answers

Frequently asked questions

Can this be applied to an unsealed absorbent surface?

A smooth, sealed surface is the better starting point. Porous or friable materials need a compatibility assessment because the liquid can penetrate or lift a weak finish.

Does water-based mean water-washable after drying?

No. This product is selected for peel-off removal. Water-washable vehicle paints are listed separately.

Does the liquid need water added?

No. The supplied coating is ready to use. Stir it thoroughly and use it without water dilution.

What quantity is needed for a second coat?

The stated coverage is for one coat. Calculate the total coated area across all coats, then allow for edges, spray losses and the actual surface. A trial panel gives the most useful consumption figure.
